At the lodge, our group sat down at a giant table right beside the window. The sky had cleared and the sun had just gone below the horizon. Between the north rim and the clouds was the most beautiful mixture of orange, pink, purple, and red the human eye had ever seen. We watched the colors shift and change as darkness settled in.

Just as they handed us menus to order from, Nina looked at me and asked, “So where are you guys staying tonight?”

The three of us looked at one another simultaneously. Grins were exchanged, and there was a momentary pause. Then I answered for all of us.

“Well, that’s a good question, because we aren’t sure about that yet. See, we really didn’t plan this trip that well. Actually, we didn’t plan it at all! We just thought we would go straight to the Grand Canyon, walk down into it and back out, and that would be it. But there are no rooms available, and our tent has holes in it. And—” Then she interrupted me.

“Oh, you guys have to stay with us! We have a huge cabin with two extra bedrooms. It was the only thing available when we decided to come out here, and so we took it. We would love to have you guys stay.”

The bottom line is that God is trustworthy. No matter how He chooses to do so, He provides for His children.
